On-Line Analytical Processing,
or "OLAP", differs from traditional transactional
processing. OLAP is designed to facilitate data analysis
and deals with data in multiple, predefined dimensions.
Structurally, the data is maintained as a multidimensional
matrix, or "hypercube", available for instantaneous
access by users. Analysts use a spreadsheet-styled interface
to pull data from the hypercube and "drill-down"
to any level of detail required. Reports are formatted,
